What happens when I spend and have a top-up amount?

Updated over a month ago

This article is for our credit card members

When you spend on your Yonder card and have a positive balance in your top-up account, that balance is automatically used to repay your spend.

Once your top-up balance is fully used, any further spend will be borrowed from your credit limit.

How it works

Let’s break it down with an example:

  • You have a £500 credit limit

  • You’ve added £200 to your Top-up Account

Your total available to spend becomes £700

Now, let’s say you spend £600:

  • £200 will come from your Top-up balance

  • The remaining £400 will be borrowed from your credit limit

Your new remaining spending limit would be £100

Using a top-up allows you to extend your spending power without increasing your borrowing, and it won’t affect how your credit usage is reported to credit reference agencies.
