Why does Yonder need access to my contacts to send points?

Updated over 3 weeks ago

To send points, we need access to your contact book, but your privacy is our priority. Here’s exactly how we handle your contact information:

1. We’ll never see or store your contact list

When you grant access, we process your contacts locally on your device. We then obscure (anonymise) the contact data before sending it to our system, which matches it against existing Yonder users.

Once we’ve identified your Yonder friends, the obscured contact data is immediately deleted, we never store the list or see actual names or numbers.

2. We’ll never contact anyone from your contacts

Because the contact data is anonymised, it’s technically impossible for us to use it to contact anyone. The feature is only designed to show you which of your friends are already on Yonder so you can send them points.

3. We’ll never share any of their details

Since we don’t see or store the contact data, we can't and won’t share it with anyone. All usable contact information stays on your device at all times.
