How does ‘Split the Bill’ work?

Updated over a month ago

Splitting the bill lets you request a payment from a friend to cover part (or all) of a purchase you made on your Yonder card. It’s a quick way to get paid back and anyone can send you a bank transfer, whether they’re a Yonder member or not.

How it works

  • You can request up to the full amount of the original transaction.

  • When someone pays you back, their payment will go towards your outstanding Yonder balance, starting with your oldest transaction.

  • This means the repayment may apply to a different billing cycle than the original transaction.

Important things to note

  • If the original transaction is later refunded or cancelled, Yonder cannot return the money to the person who paid you back.

  • You are still responsible for paying off the full transaction, regardless of whether your friends pay you back.

  • Yonder does not handle or chase repayments from others on your behalf.

  • When you share a payment request, your first name, Yonder sort code, and account number will be visible to the person paying you.

  • If you're splitting with another Yonder member, they cannot use their Yonder card to repay you - they’ll need to use a bank transfer instead.
